essex teacher training

Wondering how to become a teacher? Well, you’ve come to the right place! We offer teacher training in Essex.

At BEC Teacher Training

we offer 4 routes into teaching, here are some steps to help you start your journey.

1. Initial Requirements

In order for you to train to become a teacher, there are some initial requirements you must have, these include:

  • GCSE or equivalent English Language and Mathematics grade C/4 or above
  • GCSE or equivalent Science Grade C/4 or above (only for primary)
  • Degree, minimum 2:2 or equivalent

If you do not hold any of the above we recommend considering GCSE equivalency tests.

2. Taster Day

Interested in teaching?  Why not come along to one of our taster events?  These have proved very popular, as it gives you a chance to experience a working school environment.  We are running them at our partnership schools to give you the chance to experience life in school and discover whether teaching may be the career for you.

During the visits, you will observe lessons and meet with mentors and staff who work with our SCITT.  You will get the chance to have a chat with ex-trainees who have been employed by the school, and current trainees who are placed there for their training year.

You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, either about our course or teaching in general.

Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus, all events have been postponed until further notice. However, you can follow us on Facebook to be notified when the next events take place.

3. Get In Touch

If you meet the initial requirements and would like to become a teacher, get in touch with our friendly support team. They’ll be able to answer any of your questions about training to teach in Essex and help you start your journey to becoming a teacher!
